Diagnostics on foundation piles

Diagnostics on foundation piles by means of two different vibrational methodologies: echometric and with the measurement of mechanical admittance for the verification of the integrity of foundation piles.

Vibrational testing methods are performed in order to verify the integrity of the pile in both axial and longitudinal directions. The tests are elaborated according to two methods: mechanical admittance and ecometric.

Both methods follow the same principle of measurement that consists in stressing the top of the pole with a special hammer and recording by means of an accelerometer (positioned near the point of stress) the reflections of a part of the energy and both methods are performed with ALLinONE Kit PIT.

Ecometric method (pem: pulse echo method)
It consists in recording through a special acquisition system the signal that travels in the pole until its return to the receiver after reflection on the bottom in correspondence of acoustic impedance variations attributable to defects of the casting.

Associated with the ecometric method a parameter of interest is the impedance profile which reports the variation of impedance along the pole itself, that is the variation of elastic and/or geometric properties of the pole.
Mechanical admittance method (trm)
The admittance method consists of recording by means of a special acquisition system the signals of the force F generated and the velocity V detected (obtained by integrating the acceleration), and performing the Fourier transform of the V/F ratio.
